Pilot Protocol for the Seed Potato Inspection Quality Assurance Program
This
program encompasses both the development and emphasis of a quality management system throughout the grading process as well
as an intitiative where growers have the authority to issue their own documents.
This protocol specifies the conditions for the completion of Records of Bulk Movement (RBM) and/or Tags provided
by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) under sections 53 and 56 of the Seeds Regulations.
Each participant is responsible to inspect and report the findings for graded seed potatoes. The frequency of
inspection for domestic shipments is at least one inspection per day per lot or at least one of every 10 loads from the same
lot. For shipments to the U.S. each shipment must be inspected. Each inspection must
be documented on a Seed Potato Grading Report (Annex V) and kept on file by the participant.
